About Us
The Diablo Valley Patriots is a year-round competitive baseball program based in Walnut Creek, California, offering training, conditioning and tournament play for a select group of Contra Costa County Varsity and Junior Varsity players. It is intended to compliment and not compete with NCS play. In its inaugural summer season, the program will field a single 16U team. An 18U team will be added for the 2008 season.
The program's objectives are:
1) To assist its players in taking their game to the next level;
2) To maximize its players' exposure to college and major league scouts;
3) To compete successfully at regional and national tournaments.
Many of the program's participants compete in one or more high school sports in addition to baseball. The Diablo Valley Patriots encourage this diversity of interests, especially among Freshman and Sophomores. To deal with the special needs of these players, and to ensure each team's ability to field a competitive squad regardless of the season, the U16 and U18 rosters may carry as many as 20 players. This will afford multi-sport players the flexibility necessary to participate in other HS athletic programs while reserving for themselves the opportunity to play competitive baseball as their schedules permit.
Beginning in late May or early June, and continuing through January, the teams shall play one or two tournaments each month. The teams will participate in showcase tournaments whenever possible. When not playing tournaments, the teams will engage in extensive conditioning, training and practice sessions, or scrimmage other local and regional tournament teams.
