For the 2010 Summer Season, the Patriots will field a hybrid 19U/21U team.   Don Dennett of Albany High School will serve as Manager.   Carlton Steudeman and Tom Supple will serve as assistant coaches.

The program format will be different from that employed in the past.   Between mid-June and the end of July we will average four to five games per week.   The player roster will be large enough to permit each player some choice in the number of games and which games he will play.

We will be playing locally - no trips around the state, no overnight hotel stays.   I don't expect us to play in any tournaments, unless a very special opportunity presents itself.

We shall be competing in a "wood bat" league until late July.   These league games will be supplemented with games against other programs with rosters populated exclusively by 2010-2011 college freshman and sophomores.   This will give those on our roster not presently competing at the college level an opportunity to see how they measure up against boys already selected to play college level ball.  For those of you still looking for an opportunity to play college ball, perhaps this summer's schedule will provide you the chance to be seen by some local college coaching personnel.   Regardless, the Patriots' 2010 summer season will give you the opportunity to play baseball at a more competitive level than you played in high school.

Mike Murphy, Director of Player Development, along with his staff, once again will provide on-field instruction in all facits of the game, including position specific training, base running and batting instruction, while sharing with the players major league baseball insights into the game's finer points.

The 2010 Summer Schedule is posted online.   As games, workouts, practices and other events are added, the online schedule will be updated to reflect all changes and additions.    You should make it a point of checking the schedule frequently.

The Diablo Valley Patriots program is now accepting player applications for the 2010 Summer Season.   If you would like to be considered for the 2010 Patriots program, please complete the on-line Player Questionnaire or contact me.   I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
